Indigenous Engagement, Reconciliation and P2

Mark your Calendar for May 4 & 5!

For more than 20 years, the IAP2 Wild Rose Chapter has brought its members a one or two day event, every other year, to bring new learnings, share best practices, and strengthen the practice. Once agan, IAP2 Wild Rose Chapter is thrilled to bring members the Signature Event 2017. This year, the event will be held in Edmonton at the Alfred Savage Centre (13204 Fox Dr NW, Edmonton) on May 4 and 5.

This 1.5 day conference will focus on Indigenous Engagement, reconciliation between Indigenous people and all Canadians, and the role the public partcipation profession can play and the contribution we can make to this important work.

This Signature Event will go beyond "duty to consult" and broaden the conversation to look at how we engage with Indigenous people in both rural and urban settings. We will endevour to create a "safe space" for this event that allows people to share and explore honestly, openly and with integrity and compassion.

A key highlight for the signature event is the opportunity to participate in the Blanket Exercise, an interactive learning experience that teaches the Indigenous rights history we are rarely taught. The Blanket Exercise engages participants on an emotional and intellectual level and effectively educates and increases empathy. The exercise will be followed by a talking circle.

Details and registration will be posted in the coming weeks on the 2017 Signature Event page
